Easy Cheese and Potato Pie


  • 8 medium sized potatoes, cleaned and diced
  • 1 dash of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
  • 175g of cheese, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • Butter/margarine


  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Add potatoes to a large pan and cover with water, boil until soft and cooked.
  3. Drain potatoes and mash together with butter/margarine and milk, adding 2/3 of the cheese (set aside the other 1/3).
  4. When everything is mixed together, spoon the mixture into a baking dish. Cover with the remaining cheese, and put the tomato slices on top.
  5. Pop in the oven and bake until the cheese has totally melted and is starting to turn a nice golden brown.


Serve with baked beans.


You can add other root vegetables with the potatoes at the beginning. Swede, carrots or parsnip all add to the flavour.
