Scrummy Scones


  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 125ml milk
  • 50g margarine
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar


  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas Mark 6 and grease a baking tray.
  2. Add flour and margarine to a bowl. Using your fingertips rub the margarine in until it looks like fine breadcrumbs.
  3. Stir in the sugar and milk and continue mixing to make a soft dough.
  4. Sprinkle a little flour on the worktop and knead the dough.
  5. Split the dough into 8 pieces, make into balls and then flatten on top to make circle shapes.
  6. Place circles on baking tray and rub a little bit of milk on the top.
  7. Cook in the oven for about 10-12 mins or until scones are golden brown.


Serve with jam a clotted cream for an extra special treat!

Try adding 100g of sultanas in during step 4.
