- B480 Elford Bridge, Alrewas Staffordshire County Council Highways team is undertaking essential work to repair the damaged stone parapet and upgrade the failing retaining wall.
- Essential works on S278 Watery Lane in order to facilitate the entrance to a new development being carried out by Redrow Homes Limited. Works start from 19 June 2024 and are expected to take place for a period of 22 weeks.
The currently vacant land, formerly known as the Rugeley Power Station site, will soon be transformed into a new development area.
A portion of this development has been allocated for Staffordshire County Council's requirement of a new All-Through School, set to open in September 2025. The development site will significantly benefit the community of Rugeley.
The Rugeley 3rd Access scheme includes the implementation of a 3-arm access roundabout from the A51 into the site. The roundabout will be located northwest of the existing roundabout, which provides access to Priory Avenue.

This scheme is supporting the development of new homes in Streethay and being funded by the developer, Cameron Homes, as part of their planning obligations.
The scheme will create a new junction off A5127 Burton Road, to provide access to the adjacent development land.
Work to install two new crossings to aid pedestrians and cyclists on a busy roundabout junction in Lichfield begins next week.
The six-week scheme starts on Monday 3 February and will see a new pedestrian crossing installed on the southern section of the Bowling Green roundabout close to Friary Road. A pedestrian/cyclist crossing will also be installed on Friary Road near the junction approach.
- Chetwynd Bridge will be closed to all traffic for a duration of half a day to implement these essential works under a short duration emergency closure.
- Carriageway Hotspot Works on D3298 Spinney Lane Burntwood
Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at D3298 Spinney Lane, Burntwood as work commences on a £350,000 investment in the local area. This scheme of work is due to take place between Bells Lane and Shelley Road.
- S278 London Road, Lichfield – New Access
New signalised junction and footway improvements to support the Cricket Lane development. Works start November 2025, lasting 7 months. Expect temporary signals and short night-time closures. Access will be maintained.
Recently Completed
Staffordshire County Council carried out significant works at A515 Lichfield Road, Rileyhill as part of a £360,000 investment in the local area. The work was completed on 13 June 2025.
