Lichfield roadworks overview

Please note: The information below only lists planned road improvements by the county council.

In Progress

  • Traffic measures are currently in place on the historic Chetwynd Bridge to allow motorists to continue to use it safely. Started in January 2020 and expected to be in place for several years.
  • A scheme to create two junctions off A5127 Birmingham Road, south of the Falkland Road roundabout, to provide access to the adjacent development land. Started in October 2021 and expected to be completed in September 2022.
  • The provision of an additional footway/cycleway on the A5190 Milestone Way, Burntwood. The new installation is to provide a safe link for cyclists/pedestrians using the existing National Cycle Network route 5. Started 14 February 2022 and expected to last 8 weeks.
  • Highway works on Admiral Parker Drive, Station Road, Richard Cooper Road, New Road, Lynn Lane and Holm View Close in Shenstone. Expected to start on Tuesday 4 May 2021.

Scheduled

  • The scheme will create a new bellmouth junction off Turnbull Road to provide access to the adjacent housing development. Works also include footway works, a raised table and zebra crossing. Expected to start on 20 June 2022 and end in July 2022.

A green street light project in Staffordshire is set to save around £1.5 million a year in energy bills.Staffordshire County Council's street lighting project will see half of the county's 94,000 streetlights replaced with brand new LED lights. LED lights use less electricity than traditional orange streetlights and last anywhere between 20 to 25 years. Traditional streetlights typically last only four years.
