Following a comprehensive inspection, the road structure on Foxt Road, between Foxt Road and Froghall is deemed to be in very poor condition and substandard. Staffordshire County Council Highways Team is undertaking geotechnical investigation and essential temporary repairs. The proposed works are to both make safe the poor quality of the carriageway and determine the cause of the excessive settlement or subsidence which is both damaging the highway and causing the supporting embankment to slip.
Once the geotechnical investigation is complete the Highways team will seek a long-term solution to the issue of the excessive settlement or subsidence.
Foxt Road will be closed to all motorised traffic, but access will be provided for pedestrian and dismounted equestrian / cyclist access for the duration of the works. Every effort will be made to ensure access to residential and business premises is maintained. It is anticipated Foxt Road will be closed for a minimum of 2 weeks duration.

When will the works be completed?
End of May 2026, (estimated 2 weeks works duration), subject to obtaining all relevant statutory consents, (allowing for mobilisation / demobilisation).

Access will be provided for pedestrian and dismounted equestrian / cyclist access for the duration of the works. Foxt Road will restrict access for all motorised vehicle traffic. Authorised vehicles affected will need to use a short diversion on the adjacent adopted highway.
