CQC assessment of Staffordshire Adult Social Care
In February 2025, Staffordshire County Council were inspected onsite by representatives from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). They assessed how well the local authority performs its statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 and will produce a report sharing details about the quality of the service.
The webpage gives a summary of what this means and our results.
What is a CQC Assessment?
The Health and Care Act 2022 gives the Care Quality Commission (CQC) new powers to assess care at a local authority and integrated care system level. This inspection will give independent assurance to the public about the quality of Adult Social Care in Staffordshire and allow us to review how we can make our services better.
The CQC assessment was structured around four themes and nine quality statements. The report from CQC will tell people how well we are doing in these areas, including:
- How we assess what people need,
- How we support people to live healthier lives,
- Equity in experience and outcomes,
- The care provision on offer in the county,
- How we work with partners and communities,
- How we keep people safe,
- How our systems work and how people move between different areas of the service,
- Governance and management, and
- How well we lead, improve and innovate.
During their visit, CQC representatives spoke to our employees, our councillors, our leaders and decision-makers, our partners and a selection of people who use our services including unpaid carers.
What was our result?
Staffordshire County Council's Adult Social Care service has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ with all nine assessed areas rated ‘Good’.
CQC has published their report on their website
