What does “looked after” mean?
A child is “looked after” when the council helps care for them.
This might be:
- Living with foster carers
- Living in a children’s home
- Staying with family or friends
- Getting ready to live on their own
How we help
We make sure every child:
- Has a safe place to live
- Gets support with school and learning
- Can see a doctor or nurse when needed
- Has someone to talk to
- Can share their views and be listened to
Our promise
We follow the Staffordshire Pledge. It’s a set of promises to children in care and care leavers.
We promise to:
- Keep you safe
- Listen to you
- Help you learn and grow
- Support your health and wellbeing
- Treat you fairly and with respect
