Tree-Cycle your Christmas tree this year!

 

After all the festivities are over it can be difficult to know how to dispose of your real Christmas tree responsibly. Here are a few tips on how to recycle your tree correctly.

You can take your real tree whole to your nearest recycling centre and drop it into the garden waste container.

Find your nearest centre

Don’t forget – if you are visiting your local Household Waste Recycling Centre to drop your tree off you can also take your unwanted cardboard, glass, and plastic.

You can dispose of your tree in your green waste bin at home.

You will need to make sure it is chopped up and the lid can close correctly for it to be collected.

All waste collection services, including green waste, are supplied by your district or borough council. Find your local council waste collection:

There are several charities in Staffordshire who will collect your real tree for a small donation and will recycle it for you.

St Giles Hospice

Book your collection online by Monday 5th January 2026. Make a donation and they’ll do collect your tree between 9th-12th January 2026.

Kathrine House Hospice

Last year Kathrine House collected an amazing 897 trees with the money raised paying for a fantastic 800 hours of nursing care. 

Christmas tree collections are available in the following postcode areas: ST14, ST15, ST16, ST17, ST18, ST19, ST20, ST21, WS11, WS12, WS15.

 

Dougie Mac Hospice

Recycle your Christmas tree while supporting Dougie Mac’s specialist care services for local people. Book your collection online by 5th January 2026 and our army of volunteers will collect it between 9 - 12 January.

Collections are available from: ST1, ST2, ST3, ST4, ST5, ST6, ST7, ST8, ST9, ST10, ST11, ST12, ST13, TF9 and CW3.
