F0231 Yoxall (Trent) Footbridge, Burton Upon Trent

After a comprehensive inspection, it has been determined that the Yoxall footbridge embankment is damaged, and the adjacent stone retaining wall has deteriorated, being identified as substandard.

Therefore, the Staffordshire County Council Highways team is undertaking essential work to repair the undermining on the upstream training wall due to an embankment slip. Pointing repairs will be made to the open joints seen on cutwaters, and the scour wall of the retaining block wall will be repaired to prevent total collapse.

The estimated cost of the works is approximately £50,000, which will extend the structures' useful life for several more years or possibly decades. The Yoxall footbridge will remain open, and pedestrian access will be maintained where possible for the duration of the works.

When are the works taking place?

25 March 2024 subject to obtaining all relevant statutory consents

When will the works be completed?

June 2024, (estimated 8 weeks works duration), subject to obtaining all relevant statutory consents.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

Yes

What effect could the works have on me?

Yoxall footbridge will remain open. The works may lead to delays, pedestrian access will be maintained where possible.
