Areas of learning

Wellbeing & Independence

Courses for adults who have learning and/or disabilities and adults who have had long-term mental ill health who require more bespoke support to be successful in learning. Courses provide opportunities to develop self-awareness, improve and develop personal wellbeing and independence, achieve personal aspirations, improved health and financial management, getting involved in the local community and developing strategies to live a more sustainable life.

Community & Family Progression

Courses for parents, carers and guardians to develop skills that contribute to their community and family learning that equips individuals with the necessary skills to give their children the best start in life. Courses may include family budgeting, cookery, creative subjects, sustainability and community action projects, DIY, forest schools and early years, child behaviour and development and parenting courses.

English, Maths & Digital

Courses for adults to gain confidence and functional skills to apply in everyday lives, work and further learning. Courses may include access to digital devices and connectivity, practical everyday English, maths and digital skills including the basics, collaborative technologies, accessing online services and e-safety.

Digital Skills

These courses are designed to provide adults with the skills to be connected to the digital world, improving employment opportunities, financial and social well-being.

English Speakers of other Languages (ESOL)

These courses are designed to improve language skills and support adults to learn more about life in the UK. Courses include speaking, reading and writing and will improve social well-being and employment opportunities.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) & Vocational 

Courses for adults who want to up-skill and re-skill to gain and improve employment opportunities. Individuals will acquire skills in a specific vocational area and will feel more confident to apply for jobs, for example Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Logistics, Construction, Health and Social Care and Digital. Some courses develop enterprise skills and provide information about support available to start up a business.

Moorlands Multiply 

Courses for people aged 16 or over in a variety of different skills, as a first-step learning opportunity.  Courses will increase your confidence with numbers, and support you to progress onto further learning, volunteering or employment.  You must live or work in the Moorlands district.
