What is HAF?

The Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) gives children aged 5 to 16 the chance to:

  • Join fun activities
  • Try new things like sports, crafts and cooking
  • Enjoy a healthy hot meal

It’s free for children who get benefit-related free school meals.

How does it work?

  • You’ll get a special HAF code by email or letter if your child is eligible
  • You can book up to 16 funded sessions during the Summer Holidays
  • Activities are run by trusted local groups
  • Most sessions include a hot meal

What kind of activities are there?

Children can enjoy:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Cooking
  • Sports and games
  • Outdoor fun
  • Making new friends

Who pays for it?

The programme is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
