A527 Congleton Road – Biddulph Extension of 30 mph speed limit
As part of Staffordshire County Council’s Integrated Transport Programme, we are proposing to extend the existing 30-mph speed limit on the A527 Congleton Road, beginning at the junction with Grange Road and continuing up to the boundary of Forge Cottage, 293 Congleton Road.
When are the works taking place?
Starting from 23rd February 2026
When will the works be completed?
It is anticipated that the work will take 3 or 4 days to complete.
Will I be able to access my home/business?
To enable the works to be carried out safely, a full road closure will be in place each day from 8:00am to 4:00pm, with traffic management removed at the end of each day where safe to do so. A signed diversion will direct traffic via the A500, A34 Newcastle Road, and A34 Congleton Road for the duration of the closure.
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained where possible. Pedestrian access will remain available throughout the works; however, we kindly ask all pedestrians to take extra care when passing through the working area.
What effect could the works have on me?
The works may cause some delays to your journey, particularly during the daily road closure period. You may also experience temporary restrictions when accessing your property or local businesses, although access will be maintained where it is safe to do so.
Noise and activity from construction operations may be noticeable at times, and we kindly advise planning extra time for travel while the works are underway.
How you can help us
Follow the guidance below to help us carry out the work as smoothly as possible.
