Carriageway resurfacing works on Lichfield Road, Cannock (A5190)

Staffordshire County Council is investing £450,000 to carry out carriageway resurfacing on the A5190 Lichfield Road in Cannock. This work will improve road safety and extend the life of the carriageway.

When are the works taking place?

Work starts on Monday 16 February 2026 and will last for around three weeks, subject to weather conditions.

When will the works be completed?

We expect the scheme to finish by Friday 6 March 2026.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

  • The road will be closed overnight during resurfacing (typically 19:00–06:00).
  • Access for residents and businesses will be maintained where possible, but delays are likely.
  • A signed diversion route will be in place for through traffic.

What effect could the works have on me?

  • Expect delays during working hours.
  • There may be noise from machinery.
  • You may need to move your vehicle on resurfacing nights.
    Affected properties will receive letters with full details.

  • Keep children away from the work area.
  • Drive slowly and carefully near the works.
  • Clean shoes before entering your home or car to remove any residue.
