Carriageway reconstruction for the Pye Green Road Crossroads, Cannock

Staffordshire County Council will soon begin road improvement works at the Pye Green Road Crossroads.

Location of the works

Works will take place on:

  • Pye Green Road, from the junction with Prince Street to Robson Close
  • Limepit Lane to Seabury Drive
  • Belt Road to the junction with Holly Street

The work includes:

  • Removing and replacing the road surface
  • Drainage repairs
  • Kerb replacement
  • Replacing road ironwork, such as manhole covers and gullies
  • Minor footway repairs
  • Other preparatory civil engineering works

When will the works take place?

Works will start on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and are expected to finish on Friday 9 October 2026.

The programme is expected to take around six weeks to complete.

What to expect

Civil works

From 7:30am on Tuesday 1 September 2026, civil works will begin.

During this phase:

  • Multi-way temporary traffic lights will be in place
  • Preparatory works, drainage repairs, kerbing and ironwork replacements will be carried out

These works are expected to be completed by Monday 21 September 2026.

Road closures

From Tuesday 22 September to Friday 9 October 2026, daytime road closures will be in place Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 5pm.

During these closures we will:

  1. Remove the existing road surface
  2. Adjust and reset ironwork
  3. Lay the new road surface
  4. Empty highway gullies
  5. Install new road markings and road studs

All works are expected to be completed by Friday 9 October 2026.

Access during the works

To keep the public and workforce safe, resurfacing works will be carried out under full daytime road closures.

During the closures:

  • A signed diversion route will be in place
  • Staff will be available at both ends of the closure to help residents and businesses access their properties where possible
  • Emergency services will be allowed through when it is safe to do so
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works

Bus services

Bus stops within the work area will be suspended during the road closures.

For information about alternative stops or service changes, please contact your bus operator.

Noise and disruption

We will do everything possible to complete the works quickly and safely. However, some disruption is unavoidable.

You may experience:

  • Delays near the closure points
  • Construction noise
  • Changes to traffic management during the works

Please drive carefully through any live roadworks.
