Children and young people's advocacy and independent visitor service

The children and young people's advocacy and independent visitor service covers advocacy, independent visitor services, and advocacy for parents.

Overview

We must provide independent advocacy to help children and young people express their views in decisions affecting them, and must also offer Independent Visitors for children in care who would benefit from a consistent, trusted adult. These services – along with Parental Advocacy, Independent Persons for Secure Accommodation Reviews, and Appropriate Adults for age assessments of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children – are currently provided by Change Grow Live until 31 March 2026. The service will be provided by Asist from 1 April 2026.

Service referrals

You can continue to make referrals to Change Grow Live until Tuesday 31 March 2026 by following the existing process.  You can find full details on their website: Find out more about the Staffordshire Children's Rights Service

Change Grow Live is supporting us with the move to Asist and they will transfer all referrals made before 1 April.

From Wednesday 1 April 2026, all new referrals should be sent directly to Asist using their referrals process.

You can find full contact details for Asist, including links to referral forms and information leaflets on the  ASIST website
