Licence to plant/place on the public highway

Licence to plant (Section 142)

In order to apply for a licence to plant in the highway under Section 142 of the Highways Act 1980, please fill in the application form (33 KB) and either e-mail it back to road.adoptions@staffordshire.gov.uk or send it to the address shown on the form.

The application will then be processed and if successful a fee of £100.00 will be levied by the legal department.

License to place benches (Section 14) 

In order to apply for a licence to place benches in the highway under Section 14 of the Public Health Act 1925, please email road.adoptions@staffordshire.gov.uk with a plan and contact details. 

The application will then be processed and if successful a fee of £200.00 will be levied by the legal department.

Licence to plant for parish councils for flower beds (Section 96)

In order for parish or town councils to apply for a licence to plant flower beds in the highway under Section 96 Highways Act 1980, please email road.adoptions@staffordshire.gov.uk with a plan and contact details. 

The application will then be processed and if successful a fee of £200.00 will be levied by the legal department.

Licence to place notice boards etc in the highway (Section 115e)

In order to apply for a licence to place notice boards etc in the highway under Section 115e of the Highways Act 1980, please email road.adoptions@staffordshire.gov.uk with a plan and contact details. 

The application will then be processed and if successful a fee of £200.00 will be levied by the legal department.

General correspondence

For any correspondence by the road adoptions team, for example finding out if agreements are in place, a charge of £100.00 is applied.
