Director of Finance

 

What is his role? 

Rob SalmonThe Director of Finance is the Council’s Chief Financial Officer and Advisor. Rob has been the Council’s Statutory Officer, under section 151 of the Local Government 1972, since 2018 involving responsibility for the proper administration of the Council’s financial affairs.

This includes responsibility for a wide range of financial services ranging from budget setting to paying creditors and banking income, financial reporting, managing the pension fund, responsibility for the council’s investment/long term debt and day-to-day cash management arrangements, internal audit and risk management, main financial systems and the provision of sound financial advice to councillors, officers and partners.

 

What experience does he have? 

Rob has worked in local government finance for 37 years, qualifying with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in 1992.  Over this time, he has held many senior finance positions including roles with the Fire Authority and other local councils.

He is also the section 151 officer for the Midlands Engine and the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Enterprise Partnership.
