Active travel Newcastle
Staffordshire County Council has been awarded £1.83m by the Department for Transport as part of the government’s Active Travel Fund (ATF) Tranche 2; the aim of the Active Travel Fund is to support the creation of long-term projects which aim to enable people to cycle, walk and wheel more safely around our neighbourhoods. The designs of these schemes prioritise healthier, more sustainable forms of travel and encourage people to maintain these forms of travel over the long term.
As part of the £1.83m awarded to Staffordshire, a 3m wide, two-way, stepped cycle track along the southern side of A52 George Street has been constructed. It has provided physical separation between pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, reducing chance of conflict between either group.
The works have now been completed.
