Welcome to INTO Newcastle-under-Lyme!
INTO (Inspiring New Travel Options) is an Active Travel scheme run by Staffordshire County Council, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Our dedicated team of coaches host a variety of free and fun activities to improve health and wellbeing for adults across the district.
Activities include coach-led walks, bike rides, training and one-to-one sessions all tailored to different levels of physical ability to suit each participant.

NEW Power walk special 7.30am -8.30am Lyme Valley
WOW ‘Women's Only Walk’ 10.30am - 12.30pm The Brampton |
A 2-mile brisk power walk around Lyme Valley Park. Meeting point: Morrisons, Goose Street, outside the main entrance.
A gentle 2-mile circular walk. Includes local green spaces with good pathways, with some inclines on the route. Option to stop in the café for refreshments after. Free parking. |

Wednesday walkers 1.30pm - 2.30pm Newcastle library. National walking month
special: History walk 28t May 1.30pm - 2.30pm Newcastle Library |
A gentle 1.5-mile circular walk. Including local green spaces with good pathways, and a small incline. Followed by a free hot drink at the library.
A gentle walk whilst learning about the history of Newcastle-under-Lyme from local historian legend, Mervyn Edwards. |
Fridays |
Walk INTO Apedale 10am - 11.30am Apedale Heritage Centre. Free parking. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.
Step INTO Silverdale 11.45am - 1.30pm (led by volunteers*) Cornerstones Community Centre Free parking

A 2-mile circular walk through the country park at a steady pace, surrounded by nature. This does include hills and uneven terrain. Option to stop in the café after for refreshments. Free parking.
A 3-mile circular walk along the Greenway, a relatively flat route to the Silverdale Country Park. Terrain can be uneven through the country park. A gentle- moderate pace. Free parking. This walk is now led by our wonderful volunteers Michelle and Kath. |

*Our Step INTO Silverdale walk, is now proudly led by our volunteers, Michelle and Kath. With a shared passion for the great outdoors, they’ve been part of this walking group since day one, making them the heart and soul of the journey. Come along and experience the joy of walking, guided by two incredible champions of our community!

A moderate 5-8 mile cycle ride on cycle paths and shared pathways. It is mostly flat & smooth concrete with some gravel paths. This is a dynamic steady ride that will include hills due to the location.

It’s back by popular demand! A moderate 5–10-mile cycle ride on cycle paths and shared pathways. This is a dynamic ride that will include some hills due to the location. This session takes place on alternate weeks, please check our booking form to confirm dates. Free parking available.

A moderate to advance 8-14-mile cycle ride mainly using cycle paths some road cycling may be needed depending on the route. This will be a dynamic ride that will include hills due to the location. Option to stop at the café after for refreshments. Free parking.
A leisurely 7-mile cycle ride to The Brampton Museum, using cycle paths and shared pathways. This session is for ladies only. Free parking available.
