CX011 Structural Maintenance Work for the A53 Buxton Road, Leek

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out structural maintenance works on the A53 Buxton Road, as they start work on a £360,000 investment in the local area.

The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway.

The works will be conducted under lane closures, and night time closures for the resurfacing of the carriageway.

When are the works taking place?

The work will commence on the 22 July 2024

When will the works be completed?

Approximately 6 weeks to complete the works.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

For the safety of the public and of the work force this road will be closed during the resurfacing of the carriageway, this will be done between the hours of 19:00 – 06:00. Exact dates of the road closure will be released in the future.

Access to the surrounding roads for residents will be maintained for the majority of the scheme. Delays must be expected during resurfacing phases.

During the road closures, a diversion route will be in place for properties outside the workspace, no through traffic will be permitted.

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur.

Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard during the working times.

Please take care to plan your journeys and if necessary move vehicles to an accessible location during work phases (public letters will be delivered to affected properties with specific scheme details).

How you can help us

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum of fuss by following this advice:

  • Please keep children away from the works to ensure their safety.
  • Please drive slowly and cautiously through the works.
  • Check your shoes before entering your property or car to make sure there is no bitumen from the works.

Further information

  • If you have any questions about the work or, concerns about how the work is being carried out, please do not hesitate contact us via report it.
