Planned Structural Maintenance Work for the U5059 Mill St, Cannock

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at U5059 Mill St, Cannock, as they start work on a £310,000 investment in the local area. The team will be addressing damaged drainage systems, replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs, resurfacing isolated footpaths where necessary, installing upgraded cycle routes, upgrading footway crossing points and resurfacing the carriageway. This work will take place between the A34 and Spring Street. 

When are the works taking place?

The work will commence in September 2023

What is the duration of the works?

The works were completed on 7 October 2023

Will I be able to access my home/business?

During the first 3 weeks of the scheme, civils works will utilise traffic signals to allow safe working and enable vehicle flows to continue around the works.

Where large machinery is in use during surfacing phases a road closure will be necessary. 

To enable us to maintain access to local businesses a duration of night-time closures will be required to enable us to re-surface between A34 and Morrisons Store. Once beyond Morrisons entrance, daytime road closures will be utilised for safe working and program efficiency.

During road closure phases access within the closure points will be restricted. Public vehicles may need to be moved to outside of the closure points while works are taking place.  A signed diversion route will be in place to provide access to either end of the works.  

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur.

Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard particularly when the night time phase of the works are in progress.

Please take care to plan your journeys and if necessary move vehicles to an accessible location during work phases (public letters will be delivered to affected properties with specific scheme details).
