Structural Maintenance Works on Gloucester Road in Kidsgrove

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works on Gloucester/Newchapel Road in Kidsgrove, as they start work on an £1.5 million investment in the local area. The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway. The works will be conducted under lane closures, and night-time closures for the resurfacing of the carriageway.

When are the work taking place?

The work will commence on the 5 October 2026

How long will the works take?

Approximately 3 months.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

To keep disruption to a minimum, and for the safety of the public and our workforce, the works will be conducted under nighttime closures for the duration of the works. Access to the surrounding roads for residents will be maintained for the majority of the scheme. However for the safety of the public and our workforce, during the resurfacing phase there will be lane closures in place and also night time closures within the hours of 7pm and 6am at nights, with the official dates being between 8th October and 15th December. More detailed phasing and programme dates for these closures will be advertised as we progress through the works. During the road closures, a diversion route will be in place for properties outside the workspace, no through traffic will be permitted.

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur. Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that noise will be heard during the working times. Please take care to plan your journeys and if necessary, move vehicles to an accessible location during work phases (public letters will be delivered to affected properties with specific scheme details)
