A highways scheme to resurface a key route through Burton town centre has now been completed.
The Staffordshire County Council project saw crews work overnight to resurface the route between the Burton Place car park entrance on Worthington Way and The Dial on Station Road.
The £208,000 scheme was completed on schedule thanks to the hard work of highways crews, helping to minimise disruption for residents, businesses and motorists.
As part of the improvements, crews also replaced ironworks and cleared highway drains along the route.
The work was carefully coordinated with the ongoing Derby Road resurfacing scheme, with overnight working on Worthington Way ensuring road closures were not in place at the same time.
The county council also worked closely with utility companies to ensure any necessary works were completed before the new road surface was laid.
James Bailey, Staffordshire County Council’s Assistant Director for Highways and the Built County, said:
“I’m pleased to see this important resurfacing scheme completed and the route reopened with a much-improved surface for everyone travelling through Burton town centre.
“Our teams worked hard to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible, including carrying out the resurfacing overnight and coordinating closely with utility companies and other highways schemes in the area to reduce disruption.
“This is part of our wider Highways Roadmap approach, which is all about tackling multiple issues in one go so we can reduce repeat roadworks and minimise disruption in the future.”
