Work to create a junction to a new commercial development next to the M6 in Stafford is set to begin next month.
The junction and road widening forms part of the Stafford Gate scheme at Creswell on the A5013 Creswell Grove, close to junction 14.
Scheduled for 39 weeks, the road project is fully funded by the developer Strawsons Property and due to start week beginning Monday 4 May.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, a one-way order will be introduced on Monday 11 May towards Eccleshall and be in operation during most of the scheme duration. There will also be other phased traffic management. Warning signs will be installed ahead of any changes to traffic arrangements, and signed diversion routes in place.
Patrick Allen, cabinet support member for highways at Staffordshire County Council, said:
This is a significant development which will create jobs and provide local facilities which we welcome, but the road scheme providing access is a lengthy one which will impact our network.
Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum, though for work to be carried out safely and as quickly as possible, a one-way order is needed on Creswell Grove. Clear signage and diversion routes will be in place throughout and we’ll keep our communities updated on progress throughout the scheme. We’d like to thank people in advance for their patience and understanding while work is carried out.”
Details of the scheme, along with plans showing the works and diversion routes, are available on the scheme webpage.
