Resurfacing will begin on a key route in Uttoxeter next week.
This highways scheme, delivered by Staffordshire County Council, involves resurfacing the A518 Town Meadow Way as well as the adjoining double roundabout.
Work will begin on Monday 11 May to carry out civil works, which includes repairs to damaged kerbs and drains. This will be done under multi-way traffic lights from Mondays through to Fridays during off-peak hours.
Overnight works to resurface the road will take place from 15 June to 26 June with road closures in place between 7pm and 6am. The night time closures will be in place for everyone’s safety and also to minimise disruption to the community as much as possible.
This £950,000 scheme is expected to take around seven weeks to complete.
Patrick Allen, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Support Member for Highways North, said:
“Town Meadow Way is a key route through Uttoxeter, so it’s important we invest in keeping it in good condition. This scheme will improve the surface of the road and roundabouts, helping to make journeys smoother and safer for everyone who uses them.
“We know roadworks can be inconvenient, which is why the resurfacing will take place overnight wherever possible to reduce disruption for residents, businesses and motorists. Once complete, this investment will make a real difference to one of the town’s busiest routes.”
Letters have gone out to all affected residents and businesses.
