Shared Lives – Live with a Carer
Shared Lives is a scheme where you live with a trained carer and their family in their home. It’s an alternative to supported living or care homes and offers a family-style environment.
What does it offer?
- Long-term placements or short breaks
- Support to live an ordinary, fulfilling life in the community
- A chance to build relationships and learn skills for independence
Who is it for?
Adults with care and support needs who can’t live on their own but want a family setting rather than a care home.
How does it work?
- You are matched with a trained, approved carer
- You meet the carer first to make sure it’s the right fit
- You share their home, family life, and community activities
