Overview
If you can’t live completely independently but don’t need a care home, there are housing options that give you your own space with extra help when you need it.
What’s available
- Housing with care – Self-contained homes with on-site care and support available 24/7, plus shared facilities and social activities.
- Shared Lives - Live with a Carer – Live with a trained carer and their family in their home, either long-term or for short breaks.
Who can get help
These options are for adults who need some care and support but want to stay as independent as possible. They are suitable for people who do not require full-time residential or nursing care.
How to arrange housing with support
- If you pay for your own care, contact the housing provider or Shared Lives scheme directly.
- If you qualify for council support, your social care worker will help with the application and financial assessment.
