What happens next?
Initial discussion
Staffordshire Cares will discuss your situation and decide whether you need an assessment.
Assessment
If an assessment is needed, an Occupational Therapist will visit your home to understand your needs and identify any adaptations that could help you live more safely and independently.
Recommendation
Following the assessment, recommendations will be made about the adaptations needed and whether they are appropriate for your circumstances.
Approval and funding
If the proposed adaptations are approved, you will be guided through the next steps, including funding arrangements and expected timescales.
Before you apply
A Disabled Facilities Grant is intended for major adaptations to your home, such as:
- stair lifts
- through-floor lifts
- level-access showers
- accessible bathrooms
- widening doorways
- other significant changes that improve access and independence
Smaller items such as grab rails, walking sticks and everyday equipment are usually available through different support routes.
