Equipment repairs and maintenance

Find out who to contact if your equipment needs repairing, replacing or removing, and learn about safety inspections for lifts and hoists.

Requesting, replacing or removing equipment

If your equipment no longer meets your needs, is no longer required, or needs to be replaced, there are different ways to get support depending on the type of equipment.

Fixed equipment

Fixed equipment includes:

  • stair lifts
  • ceiling hoists
  • level-access showers

These adaptations are installed in your home and cannot usually be moved once fitted.

Request equipment or adaptations

If you think you need new equipment or adaptations, contact Staffordshire Cares to discuss your needs and arrange an assessment if required.

Phone: 0300 111 8010

Replace or remove fixed equipment

If you need fixed equipment to be replaced or removed, contact the Fixed Equipment Management Team.

Email: fixedequipmentmanagementteam@staffordshire.gov.uk

Stair lifts

If you need a stair lift removed, this is normally the property owner's responsibility unless the stair lift was provided for a child under 18.

Moving home

Fixed equipment cannot usually be moved to a new property.

If you are moving home and think you will need equipment or adaptations in your new property, contact Staffordshire Cares to discuss your options.
