Local support and services for carers

There are many services in Staffordshire to support you as a carer. Some are just for carers. Others are open to everyone and can help you and the person you care for to stay independent and connected.

Staffordshire Together for Carers (free)

This service offers:

  • a dedicated support worker
  • 1‑to‑1 and group support
  • information, advice and guidance
  • help to access community resources and networks
  • support to take breaks from caring (including befriending and peer support)
  • help with emergency and contingency plans and future planning
  • training and skills development
  • a quarterly newsletter of local groups, activities and training
  • Online Carers Community Network to connect with other carers
  • 24/7 Carers Help and Talk (CHAT) Line (volunteer staffed)

Tell your GP you are a carer

GP practices keep a carers register which may give you access to:

  • Flu vaccinations
  • Adaptable or joint appointments
  • Social prescribers who can link you to community support
