Programme description

INTO Walking & Cycling Newcastle-under-Lyme is a pilot project funded by the Department for Transport, delivered by Staffordshire County Council. As part of the project there will be extensive research throughout the 3 years of funding.

The categories of information we will collect, and process include:

  • Personal identifiers and contacts 
    • Name
    • Email and Telephone contact details
    • Address
    • Age
  • Personal characteristics
    • Ethnicity
    • Gender
  • Images & recordings – further consent will be gathered to ensure no images are published where we do not have your written consent.

Protecting your data

It is important to note that personal data will be removed from any combined datasets before they form any wider evaluation. This means it will be impossible for anyone to identify you from any published reports because information will be anonymised.

Staffordshire County Council are responsible for collecting and protecting this data complying with data protection laws. Data will be held for the length of the project plus 4 years. The data has been collected for the following reasons: 

  • To support individual progress
  • To monitor and evaluate activities
  • To provide feedback as part of funding guidelines
  • To assess the quality of our services

Anonymised data will be shared with partner organisations and central government to monitor and evaluate the project.

Consent

Group activities - all participants taking part in walking and/or cycling activities consent to take part and provide basic information as per the booking form. Prior to any physical activity session health, ability information will be requested by the INTO Training Team staff. 

For participants receiving one to one coaching sessions further health survey data pre, during and post your sessions with our team will be requested. Data is required to ensure participant safety, appropriate level of activity and to monitor benefits for the individual. 

Where adults taking part require support from a care giver or guardian permission from them will be required. 

You can withdraw your consent for us to use your information or images at any time.

Participant rights

Under the UK GDPR you, as the Data Subject, have the right to: 

  • access the information we hold about you. This information is usually provided free of charge, but we may charge depending on the administrative costs of providing the information.  You have the right to request this in machine-readable form so that it can, if required, be transferred to a third party.
  • request that we rectify any information about you that is incorrect. Simple inaccuracies, such as address changes will be made. Depending on the purpose for processing, records (including statements and opinions) may not be changed. However, there may be the option for you to provide a supplementary statement which will be added to the file.  
  • request that records we hold about you are erased. 
  • restrict processing of the information we hold about you if you have an objection to that processing, whilst your objection is investigated.
  • request that any information that you have provided to us is given back to you in a format that you can give to another service provider if required.
  • object to processing of your personal information including automated decision making and profiling.
  • Make a complaint to a supervisory authority if you are not satisfied with how the information held about you has been handled.
