Our team have worked with people of all ages and abilities, making a positive impact on their daily lives. Don’t just take our word for it, hear from our INTO success stories below.
Michael’s story
Michael from Chesterton, has found staying active a challenge in recent years, especially after the pandemic disrupted his routine. Although he’d worked hard to lose weight before, the isolation and restrictions made it difficult to maintain his fitness goals. Then, he discovered INTO walks—a group that would bring both him and his lively springer spaniel, Archie, back outdoors and into a welcoming community.
Michael joined the INTO walks over a year ago, and since then, he’s been more motivated and an all-round happier person. The walks give him a reason to get out, enjoy the fresh air, and keep moving. Accompanied by his best pal, Archie, who enthusiastically enjoys the exercise and all the attention from fellow walkers, Michael looks forward to each gathering, knowing he’ll be among friendly faces and good company.
Michael has found the walks to be a huge help in getting back to his fitness goals, and the regular activity has had a noticeable impact on his overall health and energy levels. In his words, it’s far better than “being stuck at home.”

Adele's story
Adele, a 24-year-old resident of Newcastle Under Lyme, first heard about the INTO walking and cycling scheme through her local GP, where she was given information about the organisation’s services. Adele initially struggled with confidence, which impacted her social interactions and physical activity levels. However, after connecting with INTO, Adele began a transformative journey towards greater self-assurance and an improved sense of wellbeing.
Her experience with INTO began with one-on-one sessions led by a team member, Vicky. These initial sessions were crucial, providing Adele with a safe and supportive environment to address her challenges. Through Vicky’s welcoming and understanding approach, Adele felt comfortable and gradually gained the confidence she needed to transition to group activities. She then started attending group walking sessions facilitated by the INTO team.
The shift from individual to group sessions was a milestone in Adele’s journey. The welcoming and inclusive environment created by the INTO team allowed her to feel part of a community. The support she received—especially having someone to talk to—helped her feel happier and more connected. The INTO scheme has significantly boosted her confidence, enabling her to speak with new people and enjoy regular physical activity through group walks. She even stepped further out of her comfort zone and learned to ride a bike with the team too!
Adele reflects positively on her experience with INTO, noting the profound impact it has had on her life. She states she is feeling happier and more capable in social settings, with increased confidence in her ability to engage with others.
Adele whole-heartedly recommends the INTO programme to others, especially those looking to build confidence and improve their quality of life. In her own words, "I would encourage anyone to get in touch with the team and join the INTO programme, it has helped me with my confidence and turned my life around."
