Blind and partially-sighted customers

Our libraries hold a wide range of books in large print and in CD audiobook format. Visually impaired customers are not charged for borrowing or requesting any of these items from the library.

Our eAudio collection is growing all the time across our three platforms:

  • Bolinda – BorrowBox app
  • OverDrive – Libby app
  • Ulverscroft – uLibrary app

Any library member can download these titles onto their device for free from anywhere with an Internet connection. More help with eAudio is available.

For people who are registered blind or partially sighted, the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) have a very large library of audio books on CD, USB or available as a digital download. Customers can borrow up to six talking books at any time, completely free of charge. RNIB also provide books in Braille.

Our library computers have software to magnify text, read documents/webpages aloud and allow you to choose contrasts/ colour schemes to meet your sight requirements. Please request a large print keyboard if you have need of one.
