Amington cycle route, Tamworth

Works are taking place along Tamworth Road and Florendine Street in the vicinity of Florendine Primary School as part of an Active Travel England funded scheme to promote walking, wheeling and cycling. The scheme entails improvements for pedestrians and cyclists including: 

  1. New uncontrolled pedestrian crossings along Florendine Street at the junction with Sheepcote Lane and Highfield Avenue.

  2. The upgrade of the existing puffin crossing on Tamworth Road in front of Florendine Primary School to a toucan crossing.

  3. The introduction of a raised junction table at the junction of Tamworth Road and Florendine Street.

  4. The introduction of new speed cushions on Forendine Street and Tamworth Road.

  5. The introduction of new shared footway/cycleways at the junction of Florendine Street with Tamworth Road.

  6. The introduction of a No Entry restriction prohibiting motorised vehicles entering Florendine Street from Tamworth Road.

  7. The enhancement of the public realm on Tamworth Road outside Florendine Primary School by creating a single level footway space in front of Florendine Primary School

When are the works taking place?

The works are due to commence in September 2025.

When will the works be completed?

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by December 2025.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

The contractor will endeavour to maintain access to properties at all times throughout the works period.

What effect could the works have on me?

The works will be undertaken using temporary traffic signals which may lead to delays. Please allow extra time for your journey during the works period. 

How you can help us

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum of fuss by following this advice:

  • Please keep children away from the works to ensure their safety.
  • Please drive appropriately past the works or around the diversion route.
  • Check your shoes before entering your property or car to make sure there is no bitumen from the works.
