Museum service overview

Staffordshire County Museum Service

Staffordshire County Council returned management of the Shugborough Estate to the National Trust in November 2016.  County Museum collections continue to be on display in the Servants' Quarters and at Shugborough Park Farm. Meanwhile, the County Museum Service reserve collections have been transferred to new, improved stores in the Stafford area.

In the longer term the Museum Service's new base will be as part of the new Staffordshire History Centre which is to be developed on the site of the Staffordshire Record Office over the next few years.

Associated with the Staffordshire History Centre project will be an extensive programme of temporary and touring exhibitions and outreach activities across Staffordshire, using our collections and expertise from the Museum Service, Archive Service and William Salt Library.

If you have any items that you think could be added to our collection please contact Chris Copp, Collections Manager chris.copp@staffordshire.gov.uk
