Doing our bit to make Staffordshire greener

We can all do our bit to reduce our impact on the environment by thinking differently about how we live our everyday lives, how we travel, heat our homes, how we work, what we buy and how we dispose of our waste. 

Doing our bit to make Staffordshire greener, means we will breathe cleaner air, create greener communities and make Staffordshire a healthier place for our residents to live and work.   

Small actions, when they come together can make a big difference. We can all do our bit to make Staffordshire more environmentally friendly.

1.

We are replacing our street lights in Staffordshire with LED light bulbs. 

Change lightbulbs in your house to LED Lightbulbs.  

  

Join the Staffordshire Business and Environment Network. They have lot’s of tips on how you can make your business more environmentally friendly. 


2.

All of our corporate buildings and estates run on green renewable energy tariffs. 

Switch home energy provider to one that uses green energy. 

Explore whether your business can transfer to a green energy tariff.  

  

3.

We have empowered our staff to work from home where possible. This reduces pollution from commuter traffic.  

 

Reduce your travel by car. Walking, cycling or using public transport are also great ways to get about which are much better for the environment.  

Think about how your business can be more energy efficient.  

 

4.

We have declared a Climate Change Emergency and have created a climate change strategic framework to give us a direction of how we can tackle climate change.

We use our residents waste and turn it into a resource. We use the waste to power around 60,000 homes in Staffordshire.

Talk to your staff about climate change to see if they have any innovative ideas for your business to be more environmentally friendly.
