Staffordshire's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Strategy
The current strategy (below) takes us to the end of 2025. Work is now underway to review and update the strategy for 2026 and beyond.
We've been listening to local children, young people, parents and carers, and professionals to understand the impact of the current strategy and identify areas for improvement. Together we're developing a new strategy for 2026 to 2029.
The new strategy will be available in December 2025.
Staffordshire's SEND strategy 2021 to 2025
We are working together with the Staffordshire Integrated Care Board and others to improve the way children with special education needs and disabilities (SEND) are supported.
The SEND strategy 2021 to 2021 was developed following lengthy engagement, co-production and consultation with parents, professionals, the NHS and school representatives across Staffordshire.
Together, we identified a number of key priority areas to focus on, including improving communication with families and joint working between the county council, NHS and schools; providing support to children and young people more quickly; and improving awareness of SEND in the community and increasing access to out-of-school activities.
