Multiply Paediatric First Aid 1 Day course
1 day course of 6 Hrs. A certificated course registered with NUCO covering basic lifesaving skills for those working with / or have children, intertwined with everyday maths skills. A mix of practical tasks, quizzes and simulations to embed new skills and knowledge.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is aimed at:
- Individuals age 16 years+ living or working in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
- Individuals who would benefit from a practical certificated first aid course with opportunities to use maths in everyday situations and progress towards formal learning, volunteering or employment.
- Adults in families who would benefit from lifelong learning opportunities which support the whole family.
- Adults in employment needing a refresher in maths skills/ successful completion of a certificated First aid course to further their career.
Entry Requirements
Individuals age 16 years+ living or working in the Staffordshire Moorlands. No prior experience of the subject necessary.
Course Content
Refresh your maths skills through the following areas:
- Role of the Paediatric First Aider,
- Primary survey,
- Secondary assessment,
- Resuscitation and AED,
- Seizures,
- Choking,
- Wounds, bleeding, and shock,
- Bites and stings,
- Basic Life support,
- What is first aid
- Disorders of respiration
Learning Methods
You will learn face-to-face in a classroom setting through a mix of practical tasks, quizzes, multiple choice tests and simulations to embed new skills and knowledge.
Learner Support
Where possible you will have a discussion about individual needs and possible adaptations prior to the start of the course. The course content can be delivered flexibly with the aim that all learners' needs can be accommodated, and met.
Course assessment
During the course you will complete a number of tasks relevant to the course. This will include scenarios, multiple choice test and practical tasks. Your tutor is there to support you throughout and provide feedback to enable you to successfully, achieve and complete the course.
Course Materials
All equipment is provided, but lunch is not included - so please bring any food/drink as this is a busy whole day session.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
When you have completed this course, you can progress onto other maths and longer first aid courses. You may also want to complete a course which helps you to develop more skills for everyday life, such household budgeting, banking, shopping and debt management.
