Art for Wellbeing - Progress your Sketching and Drawing

Improve your wellbeing and explore your creativity with this lovely sketching and drawing course which helps you progress your skills, adding colour and texture to your artwork. It's a fabulous, gentle way to start the new year.

Who is the course aimed at?

This is an introductory on-line course for Staffordshire residents aged 19+  who would like to support their wellbeing, including those who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed.   

Entry Requirements 

No prior experience is needed to take part, just an interest in sketching, drawing and nature. You will need some basic digital skills to take part and access to a digital device/smartphone.

Course Content

This course will help you to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem by learning new skills and progressing existing ones. We will introduce you to sketching materials, skills and techniques so that you can produce finished sketches introducing colour into your artwork to share with your family and friends. We will introduce strategies to support your wellbeing too.

Learning Methods

The course is delivered online through a closed Facebook group and/or an on-line learning blog so you will develop your digital skills, learn with others online and take part in sessions on Zoom. Your tutor will also support your learning using Zoom, email and/or telephone conversations.

Learning Support

Your tutor will support your online learning; you will be asked to complete online forms, upload comments and photos and watch recorded material.  We will provide you with sketching and drawing materials and an art journal so that you can take part in the course.  This will be delivered to your home address prior to the start date of the course.  

Course Assessments

At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. This is completed online using microsoft forms. Throughout the course you will be asked to reflect on your weekly learning  and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.

Learning Materials

Most course resources will be provided by CARE. You may like to provide some art equipment/paper/pencils of your own. To take part you will need access to the internet and a suitable device – smartphone/ipad/tablet/laptop/computer.

What can learner’s do next/progress onto?

At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities available on-line and in your community. This could include vocational skills courses in Arts and Crafts, Environmental studies, Green Crafts, art journaling, and wider personal development including English, numeracy and digital skills. 

Are there any fees?

This course is fully funded, so there are no course fees.
