The Asset Management Plan forms a central part of the Corporate AMP. Schools form over 80% of the Local Authority's building and land asset-base; the assets must be maintained to a high standard and developed / improved in line with service needs. The team manages AMP information for each school at an elemental level, in line with DfE guidelines. This allows detailed reporting on the condition and suitability of each school building.
The Purpose of AMP is to:
- Provide a mechanism for determining the priorities for capital expenditure in schools in a fair way.
- Provide a consistent, informed picture of where capital priorities lie within and across schools in the County to ease forward planning.
- Provide assurances to stakeholders that capital investment plans are soundly based and represent good value for money.
- Ensure building projects contribute to measurable improvements in the condition and or suitability of school premises.
- Provide information that maximises the way our assets meet key school, service and corporate property objectives.
- Provide information to support the monitoring and improvement of the financial and environmental efficiency of schools, ensuring that the value of those assets is sustained.
- Provide a basis to measure the contribution of capital investment in improved educational attainment.
- Provides a basis for pursuing inward investment opportunities.
Given the wide use of the AMP in making informed decisions, the data must be as accurate as possible. Schools thus have a responsibility to inform the Strategic Property Team of any changes to their accommodation, or its use. You should report changes to your Development Officer or one of the AMP Data Officers.
