- Staffordshire County Council - Design Consultancy - Medium and large scale projects are developed and delivered through the Design Consultancy. Design Consultancy professional staff, or the County Council Strategic Architectural Partner, are engaged to design, manage and procure the project.
- Maintenance Consultancy - Medium and small scale projects may be developed using the Maintenance Consultancy District Building or Engineering Surveyors or Maintenance Consultancy Sites Team. The use of the method will depend on resource availability and the scale and type of project involved.
- Self Management of the project - should the school wish, they may appoint their own consultants to design and project manage the work having first ensured the guidance with the Self Management of Projects section is considered while also ensuring the County Council Financial Regulations and Standing Orders are adhered to. (See section providing details on School Self Management).
In all cases, schools are able to limit their risk exposure to professional fees by commissioning consultants to undertake only a Feasibility / Option Appraisal Study. The school are then able to commit to further progression of the project once a clearer idea of scheme costs are known or the outcome of a bid for external funding has been decided. Alternatively, if funding has been previously secured, a commission through to project completion may be awarded. The Development Officer will be able to explain the most appropriate action for a given scenario.
