Who is the course aimed at?
Designed for learners who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health, or those who are unemployed and looking to re-engage with learning, this supportive course helps develop practical, social and transferable skills. Work alongside others on creative projects, make new connections and gain valuable experience that can support progression into volunteering, further learning or employment.
Entry requirements
Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who would like to support their wellbeing, are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who are unemployed and would like to re-engage with learning. Learners need to be able to set and monitor their own learning goals and objectives and complete an enrolment form and course documentation unaided.
Course content
Build confidence, improve wellbeing and rediscover a love of learning through a range of practical activities including gardening, woodwork, metalwork and crafts.
Learning methods
Creative practical activities, discussions, teamwork or solo projects that are detailed in your individual learning plan.
Learning support
Learners will have an initial assessment via a phone call or face to face meeting as an introduction to the course and to establish needs. Transport is available via a pickup mini bus for those who are unable to access the venue independently. We provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment to ensure your experience is positive and engaging.
Course assessments
Informal assessments via observations of practical activities, discussions, feedback on work completed and one to one reviews.

All materials are supplied.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Learners can progress onto other Community Learning courses, volunteering, further learning or employment.
Are there any fees?
This course is fully funded, so there are no course fees.
