Who is the course aimed at 

The course is ideal if you're returning to work or looking to kickstart your career in a new industry. On completing the course, it will provide people with the skills that employers recognise and are looking for when hiring. The Skills Bootcamps are funded by the UK government, meaning they're available at no cost providing the elegibility criteria is met. For employers, you will pay a small proportion of the costs, which is often 10% for small/medium-sized businesses (SMEs with fewer than 250 employees), or 30% for larger employers. 

Entry Requirements

You must be 19+, have the right to live in the UK, live or work in Staffordshire, not be enrolled on another government -funded course at the same time, commit to the full course and have a good standard of English & Maths 

Course Content - What you will Learn 

This qualification is perfect for those in management roles without formal training who want to develop their skills. Areas covered: Key management skills, building leadership capabilities, motivating and managing relationships, developing effective leadership skills, improved problem solving and decision making skills.

Learning Methods

Learning will take place face to face, at our Cannock training centre, over 8 days. There, you will learn the key principles of leadership & management, through tutor-led activities and group sessions. There will be two written assignments to complete through self-directed study outside of the taught hours (approx, 12 hours). These should be completed (where possible) electronically. 

Learning Support 

You will have a dedicated tutor throughout the programme, who will adapt their delivery to suit your individual needs. There is also an engagement officer assigned to the course, who will support with pastoral needs. We complete a neurodiversity screener during the sign-up process, which helps us to understand how you prefer to learn, and the things you may find more difficult. We provide support with accessing technology where needed.

How you will be assessed

We will complete an advice & guidance session with you, where we get to know you and your starting points, what your goals are, and if there are any barriers for you completing course. We also complete a neurodiversity screener during the sign-up process, which helps us to understand how you prefer to learn, and the things you may find more difficult. There will be two written assignments to complete to achieve the qualification, the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management Skills.  

What can learners do next/progress onto

Throughout the Bootcamp you will be provided with information and advice about employment opportunities available to you. A positive progression will include a new job, apprenticeship or if employed, a new role or additional responsibilities which could lead to an increase in salary. Everyone who completes the Bootcamp will be guaranteed an interview.
