Who is the Skills Bootcamp aimed at?

This Skills Bootcamp is for adults aged 19 or over who live in Stoke‑on‑Trent or Staffordshire, or who work for a business in these areas. It is for people who are looking for work, want a fresh start, or are ready to make a positive change. The course is welcoming, supportive, and ideal for those returning to learning, building confidence, or taking steps towards new employment in health or care settings.

Entry Requirements

You will not require previous knowledge in the subject. You must have a good level of English including reading, writing, speaking and listening and basic IT skills. You will need a willingness to learn and the intention to move into employment.

Course Content

Learners will develop essential skills for working in health and social care, including understanding care roles, person-centred care, safeguarding, communication, infection prevention, professional behaviours and workplace expectations. The programme supports progression into care roles and prepares learners for employment or further training within health and social care settings.

Learning Methods

Learning will be face to face at the Cauldon campus for health and social care elements and the  Burslem campus for employability sessions.

Learner Support

We want everyone to feel supported and able to do their best on this course. If you need extra help with learning, reading, writing, maths, technology, or for a disability, health need, or personal reason, support is available. You can tell us at the start or at any time, and we will work with you to put the right support in place.

How you will be assessed

At the start of the bootcamp, we take time to get to know you. We talk about what you can already do and what you want to learn. Together we set clear goals and check progress as you go. Learning is checked through ongoing discussion, practical work and review of progress. Your learning is shown through practical work and regular reviews. Skills for work, like teamwork and communication, are recorded in a simple learner workbook.

What can learners do next?

After completing the Level 2 learners will be trained to industry standard and can progress into employment. You can also progress to English and Maths courses to enable you to join Access courses. You will be guaranteed an interview after this Bootcamp.
