Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements or prior experience needed for this course, just an interest in supporting your wellbeing, traditional festive arts and crafts. You will need some basic digital skills and access to a digital device/smart phone.

What you will learn

You will be introduced to floristry skills involved in traditional wreath making, also an introduction to macrame.  You will receive/take part in on-line tutorials and Zoom meetings to guide you through the skills and techniques needed to complete your projects, including forraging for organic resources.  We take inspiration too from different cultures around the world. Wellbeing support is available throughout the course.

Learning Materials

To take part in this online course you will need access to the internet and a suitable device - smartphone/ipad/tablet/laptop/computer. CARE will provide  some crafting resources and you may like to provide some foraged or upcycled resources of your own so that you can take part.

Learning Methods

The course is delivered online through a closed Facebook group and/or an on-line  learning blog so you will develop your digital skills, learn with others online and take part in sessions on Zoom.  Your tutor will also support your learning using Zoom, email and/or telephone conversations.

Learner Support

Your tutor will support your online learning; you will be asked to complete online forms, upload comments and photos and watch recorded material.  We will provide you with some resources so that you can take part in the course and this will be delivered to your home address prior to the start date of the course.  You will need to provide greenery and sensory items of your own.

How you will be assessed

At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. This is completed on-line using Microsoft Forms.  Throughout the course you will be asked to reflect on your weekly learning and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement.  You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.

What can learners progress onto

At the end of the course we will provide information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities/volunteering available on-line and in your community.  This could include vocational skills courses  in Floristry, Horticulture, Art, Green Crafts and Rural Crafting; Skills Bootcamps; or essential skills development in English, numeracy and digital skills.
