Aim of the course
This course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19 and over who wish to develop internet skills further to be able to gain a more savings online approach and to be able to shop, eat and travel taking advantage of discounts and access a range of deals and be reimbursed for shopping using cash back and access and download everyday manuals and brochures.

Course Content
This course looks at using your smartphone to assist you and improve your productivity at work or in everyday life. You will explore different apps, including clock, calendar, and calculator. You will learn how to organise your phone, change settings, set alarms, schedule appointments, set or remove notifications, add contacts, connect to and search the internet, and communicate using WhatsApp or email.
How you will learn
Teaching will include tutor led sessions in small groups, 1:1 tuition, tutor demonstration, quizzes, and practical exercises. You will work at your own pace and will complete the activities using your device or the library computer. Your learning progress will be recorded.
Course materials
On enrolment you will need to provide proof of ID (passport, national ID card, driver's licence) and proof of eligibility. For the course you will need a pen, a note pad and a documents folder. For homework you will need an internet connected device, either a PC, a laptop, an iPad, tablet or smartphone - you could do this at your local library.
Learner Support
Your tutor will support you throughout your learning journey. Your tutor will get to know you and what you want to achieve from the course and include this in the delivery of sessions. You will also have the opportunity to have some one-to-one time with your tutor.
Learner Assessment
Throughout the course you will complete a number of tasks relevant to your learning. Your tutor will give you feedback throughout using an Individual Learning Plan. The Individual Learning Plan records your learning and your achievement.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Throughout the course your tutor will provide you with information and advice about other learning opportunities. When you have completed this course, you can progress onto another digital skills course. You may also want to gain a qualification to help you develop more skills for everyday life or for employment. You can also learn at home using Learn My Way, Skillswise or BBC Bitesize websites.
