Who is the course aimed at?
This Skills Bootcamp is for qualified electricians who want to learn how to install solar panels and gain new skills in renewable energy.
It is suitable for electricians who are self-employed, work for a company, or want to move into jobs in the renewable energy sector.
The course is aimed at people who already have electrical qualifications, such as a Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification. It will help learners understand solar panel systems, how to install them safely, and the rules and standards they need to follow.
By completing the Bootcamp, electricians can offer more services to customers, increase their job opportunities, and take advantage of the growing demand for renewable energy.
The Bootcamp also helps employers by giving their staff the skills needed to meet demand for energy-saving and low-carbon technologies. This can help businesses grow, support net-zero goals, and keep up to date with industry standards.
The training includes both classroom-based learning and practical hands-on experience, so learners can use their new skills straight away in the workplace.
Entry Requirements
Level 3 qualified electricians (or equivalent) with industry experience. Learners should have a good understanding of electrical installation and current regulations (e.g. 18th Edition). Suitable for those currently working in the sector or seeking to progress into Solar PV and renewable technologies.
Course Content
The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the main safety standards used across the UK electrical industry. They set out the requirements for the safe design, installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical systems and are recognised as the UK standard for electrical work.
This Skills Bootcamp begins with training on the latest BS 7671 regulations, helping learners understand current industry requirements and best practice. The programme then introduces Solar PV systems and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging technologies, providing learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work in these growing sectors.
The course is designed for individuals who already hold a Level 2 Electrical qualification and want to build on their existing skills. It offers a clear progression route into renewable energy and low-carbon technologies, helping learners improve their career prospects and meet the increasing demand for solar and EV charging installations.
Learning Materials – What you need to bring
