Who is the course aimed at:
This is an introductory on-line course for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who would like to support their wellbeing, including those who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed.
Entry Requirements
No prior experience is needed to take part, just an interest in art, creativity and wellbeing. You will need some basic digital skills to take part and access to a digital device/smart phone.
Course Content
This course will help you to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem by learning new skills and progressing existing ones. We will introduce you to watercolour painting materials, skills and techniques so that you can produce finished pieces of work of your own to share with your family and friends. We will introduce strategies to support your wellbeing too.
Learning Methods
The course is delivered online through a closed Facebook group and/or an on-line learning blog so you will develop your digital skills, learn with others online and take part in sessions on Zoom. Your tutor will also support your learning using Zoom, email and/or telephone conversations.
Learning Materials
Most course resources will be provided by CARE. You may like to provide some art equipment/paper/pencils of your own.
Learner Support
Your tutor will support your online learning; you will be asked to complete online forms, upload comments and photos and watch recorded material. We will provide you with art materials so that you can take part in the course. These will be delivered to your home address prior to the start date of the course.
Course Assessments
At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. This is completed on-line using Microsoft Forms. Throughout the course you will be asked to reflect on your weekly learning and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities/volunteering available on-line and in your community. This could include further courses in Arts and Crafts, Green Crafts, art journaling, or support to develop essential skills such as English, numeracy and digital skills.
Are there any course fees?
The course is fully funded so there are no course fees.
