Highway crews will be transforming the Pye Green Road crossroads in Cannock with a series of extensive improvement works next month.
The £550,000 scheme, beginning on 1 September and due to last six weeks, will involve replacing the existing carriageway surface and fixing its ironworks.
The works will be taking place from the junction of Prince Street to Robson Close, with works including Limepit Lane to Seabury Drive and Belt Road to the junction of Holly Street.
The first phase of the works until Tuesday 22 September will see temporary traffic lights set up between 7.30am and 5pm. During the second phase the carriageway will be closed.
Bus stops along the parts of the road undergoing improvements will also be suspended during the road closures.
A signed diversion route will be in place during the road closures, with access to driveways maintained throughout.
Peter Mason, Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“We are incredibly excited to see these crossroads in Cannock revitalised for residents and motorists alike.
“This section of road is in need of upgrading and this scheme will do just that. With the resurfacing and ironworks repairs, drivers can expect far smoother journeys on the crossroads once the works are done.
“Crews will try and keep disruption to a minimum, but I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience as we carry out these essential works.”
