Drivers in Staffordshire are being encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys as the county prepares to welcome one of the world's biggest golf events.
Taking place from 23 to 26 July, The JCB LIV Golf Championship returns to the JCB Golf & Country Club in Uttoxeter and is expected to attract thousands of spectators, competitors and support teams to the area.
With roads expected to be busier than usual, motorists are being advised to check their routes before travelling, leave plenty of time for their journeys and follow any local traffic management measures that may be in place.
The tournament, back in the county for a third year, showcases some of the world's leading golfers, and is expected to welcome thousands of fans from across the UK and beyond, providing a welcome boost to the local tourism economy.
Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“The JCB LIV Golf Championship is a fantastic event that puts Staffordshire on the global stage and brings significant economic benefits to the region.
“The previous two events have been a huge success, attracting thousands of visitors, giving us a great opportunity to show off our amazing county and wonderful hospitality.
“We know that the roads around the venue and on key routes into the area will be busier than usual which is why we’re encouraging people to plan their journeys. There will be some local travel arrangements in place during the tournament including park and ride options and people should check on the event website for further details.
